Room Rent Limit

Room rent limit is the highest daily room charge your insurer will pay for.

What it means

Say your policy covers up to ₹5,000 a day and you pick a ₹10,000 room. You do not just pay the extra room cost — the insurer can also cut the same proportion from the rest of your bill, like doctor fees, nursing and surgery, because you chose a costlier room.

Why it matters

  • Picking a room above your limit can shrink your whole claim, not just the room part.
  • Hospitals often price other charges by room category, so the gap you pay can be large.

Practical tips

  • Prefer plans with no room-rent cap, or ones that cover a single private room.
  • Check the ICU limit separately — it is often different from the normal room limit.
  • Compare the limit with real room prices at good hospitals in your city.
